Selon la l\u00e9gende, Alfred aurait choisi cette forme, encore utilis\u00e9e aujourd\u2019hui, parce qu\u2019elle emp\u00eachait la bouteille de rouler sur les tables \u00e0 bord des navires et permettait de l\u2019empiler sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 pour faciliter son rangement.
